If you’ve ever looked at stone plugs and thought,
“Why are these more than acrylic?”
Good. You’ve got taste.
Natural stone isn’t pumped out of a mould. It’s cut from real mineral blocks — shaped, sanded and polished into something that didn’t exist before.
No two pairs are identical.
Which is kind of the point.
1. Every Pair Is One of One
Acrylic is copy–paste.
Stone has veining, depth, colour shifts and character. At 30mm, 40mm, 50mm+, that variation becomes part of your look.
You’re not wearing jewellery.
You’re wearing a slice of the earth… in your big holes.
2. The Weight Hits Different
Stone has density.
At larger sizes, that weight gives a grounded, solid feel — especially once your lobes are fully healed and conditioned.
It hangs clean.
It sits heavy.
It feels deliberate.
Lightweight materials are fine.
But stone feels serious.
3. The Finish Takes Time
Quality stone plugs are:
-
Gradually shaped
-
Wet sanded
-
Hand polished to a smooth, skin-safe finish
That process isn’t instant.
Cheap stone feels gritty.
Properly finished stone glides in and sits comfortably.
There’s a difference. You’ll know it.
4. They Grow With You
Plastic scratches.
Coatings chip.
Stone develops character over time.
The bigger you go, the more it makes sense to wear something real.
Are They For Everyone?
No.
If you’re freshly stretched or prefer ultra-lightweight wear, glass or wood might suit you better.
But if you’re sitting at 25mm+ and want something solid, natural and elevated?
Stone is worth it.
Big sizes deserve real materials.
Run them properly.
